Crack for the modern age

Or, a few things that are addictive that are not also illegal

1. Kettle corn

2. Angry Birds

3. YouTube videos of puppies

4. Words with Friends, especially when the friends perpetually beat you by only a few points.

5. Good pie, particularly rhubarb just picked from the garden, berries just plucked from the bushes, or apples I just plundered from the tree out front.

6. The way the beast with four legs looks at me when she’s briefly awakened from a dead sleep. Also the way her feet twitch when she’s dreaming, and if I’m not trying to sleep, the way she sounds when she snores.

7. Miles Davis, Kind of Blue

8. Ridiculous websites that include, but are not limited to, Awkward Family Photos, Cake Wrecks, and the animal related posts of Hyperbole and a Half.

9. A good cup of tea, made with high quality leaves and in the English or Irish manner. My preference is Barry’s Gold Label, from Ireland.

10. Kettle corn.

  1. 1. Kettle Corn
    2. Buttered Popcorn
    3. Frozen Grapes
    4. bobbing in the waves in the ocean
    5. Pictures of my children when they were young
    6. Reality TV (although perhaps that should be illegal)

    1. Forgot about frozen grapes, but it has to be in the summer. And anything about baby pictures is not considered addiction, but requirement, like air.

  2. Love this list. What a great post idea. I love caramel corn, but in a pinch, kettle corn would certainly do. A few more (and I might just have to do a post like this in the near future, too)…

    1. Bejeweled
    2. My three daughters
    3. Sugar (pretty much any form will do)
    4. Diet Coke (someday, we’ll find out this is the equivalent to crack)
    5. Bubble Baths
    6. Books

I could go on and on. Guess I have an addictive personality. 😉

  3. Regarding baseball, you are absolutely right about the facial hair and absolutely wrong about Safeco. The most beautiful ballpark is ATT Park in downtown San Francisco overlooking the sail boats in the bay and where we won two this weekend.

    1. We also won two this weekend. And I’m not going to argue about this with my mother on my blog. If she wants to opine, she can get her own blog. Or a Twitter account. 😉
