You know that song “My Dear Country” on Not Too Late? The one that’s written to scary-movie music and includes these lyrics:
“That nothing is as scary as election day.
But the day after is darker,
And darker and darker it goes,
Who knows, maybe the plans will change,
Who knows, maybe he’s not deranged.”
Well, in light of the events of November 4, I was wondering if you might be ready to pen something a little more hopeful for your next album. I’m planning on asking Michael Stipe to consider a similar upbeat song as a counterpoint to “Final Straw” from Around the Sun. I don’t think he’ll have as much to fight against come January 20.
I don’t think any of us will. And isn’t that just fabulous?
Thanks!
Lisa
